I found your great website yesterday and am still checking it out! I thought i would submit a picture of the '59 Mercury that I bought in March 2005. When the original owner was unable to drive her anymore she was stored in his barn in 1994 in a small town south of Portland, Oregon. When he died in 2004 his heirs sold the car at an estate sale. When she was a sale fail on Ebay, I contacted him and arranged a meeting where I could actually see her the following weekend. She was a sight to behold, still wearing her original paint but all flat surfaces were marred with paint and varnish can rings of when she must have been used as a storage table while in the barn. She ran ok but her radiator had several leaks and her brakes left much to be desired. She was a plain jane, bottom of the line 4 door sedan Monterey. 312 engine, 2 speed tranny, no options what so ever other than the back up lights, ust what i was looking for!! We agreed on a price and made arrangements to come down a couple of weeks later to trailer her back to my home in Washington State. Being a novice to automobile restoration i've had help with my mechanic and so far "we" have rebuilt the engine, transmission, rear end, master cylinder, brake line, new generator, starter, radiator, all new wheel bearings, rear axel bearings,rebuilt carb, new exhaust system, new tires, alignment, restored the radio, new front speaker, NOS antenna and correct hood ornament. I found the original plastic "chromed" sleeves for the taillights in the glove compartment. Purchased a donor 59 Montclair where the front and rear windshields, chrome and stainless trim, clock and inside door handles were salvaged. With all of the mechanics out of the way, this summer will be spent just enjoying driving her once this problem of a leaky rear seal is fixed (she is back in the shop). This winter i plan on removing the stainless trim to be polished and will start removing the paint so that she can be repainted her original Satellite blue with Marble white. Now.... if i could just find a Canadian '61 Meteor......hmmmmmm

"Smooth ride, big fella", she said as I floated past her in my mint '59 Monterey. I tried to catch a name, but only caught a glimpse. Alas, the adventure continues... Fasten your lapbelt, grab a couple of soda's and crank up the AM radio. If the first few weeks of owning this baby are any indication of the passages to come we're in for the ride of a lifetime (oh, and have your gas card ready). I found this all original beauty at an auto museum buried in the winding hills of the Okanagan. Even the paint hasn't been touched in 41 years. Virtually new, her home is with me now in Vancouver, where she runs as smooth and free as the day she was born....
Very Nice Machine Mark.....Even Cadillac doesn't have a True Cruiser like this anymore!

My East Tennessee farmer buddies, Kenny and Dana Schwartz bought this car right off this website some 7 years ago. I finally got in contact with my hillbilly buddy via the Network Girl in California! How about that. I am soooo glad that you guys are okay Ken and Dana..................someday were a gonna come down there to south Tennessee and visit with y'all for awhole week if'n the Good Lord Willin and the Creeks dont rise! Probably in 2009.
